Fuente Fuente OpusX Templo de Oro Appears Without Warning
A new Fuente Fuente OpusX has surfaced quietly at retailers, wrapped in gold and mystery. The ForbiddenX Templo de Oro arrived unannounced, with almost no information disclosed by its creators.
A Surprise Release From Arturo Fuente
The Fuente Fuente OpusX has always thrived on intrigue. That reputation now deepens with a new release few expected. The ForbiddenX Templo de Oro appeared at retailers in late December. No advance notice preceded the shipment. Retailers received no technical details. Even now, official information remains scarce.
According to Carlos Fuente Jr., silence appears intentional. The company has not issued a formal announcement. The cigar does not appear on the Fuente website either.
Meaning Behind the Name
Templo de Oro translates to “temple of gold.” The name references the cigar’s pale golden wrapper. A gold sleeve also surrounds each cigar.
That presentation sets it apart visually. Gold dominates both cigar and packaging. The effect leans ceremonial rather than flashy.
Wrapper Origin Remains Unconfirmed
Fuente has not confirmed wrapper provenance. No binder or filler details have been released. This lack of disclosure fuels speculation.
Historically, every OpusX cigar uses a proprietary wrapper. That tobacco comes from Chateau de la Fuente. The farm sits in the Dominican Republic. While not confirmed, tradition suggests continuity. Officially, Fuente says nothing.
Retailers React to the Arrival
The unexpected delivery caught retailers off guard. That included Michael Cafagno, owner of Tobacconist of Greenwich. He confirmed no prior communication. No blend details accompanied the shipment. Despite that, the reaction was positive.
Retailers praised the presentation. Many also welcomed another OpusX offshoot. The mystique added to the appeal.
Sizes, Pricing, and Production
The ForbiddenX Templo de Oro ships in four vitolas:
No. 1 — 6 1/8 x 50, $29.50
No. 3 — 5 1/2 x 52, $28
No. 8 — 6 1/8 x 55, $32
No. 13 — 6 x 58, $32.50
Each size comes in ornate 20-count boxes. Gold dominates the design throughout.
Production takes place in the Dominican Republic. The cigars roll at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. That remains one of the few confirmed details.
Fuente Maintains the Mystery
When pressed for clarity, Fuente stayed vague. Ciro Cascella offered little insight. He described the wrapper simply as aged and beautiful. No further explanation followed. For OpusX collectors, that silence speaks loudly. The mystery now forms part of the cigar’s identity.
