Fuente OpusX El Tributo: A Tribute Wrapped in Green
The Arturo Fuente family celebrates 25 years of OpusX with a special new release: the Fuente Fuente OpusX 25 Aniversario El Tributo. Known among cigar lovers as the “Opus Green,” this elegant, limited cigar honours both the brand’s legacy and the late Carlos Fuente Sr.
A Tribute to Heritage and Legacy
Initially launched in 2021 as part of a collector’s package, the OpusX El Tributo could once only be found in two extravagant Elie Bleu humidors—a 25-count desktop version retailing at $9,250, and a grand double-door cabinet with 150 cigars priced at $70,000.
Now, Carlos Fuente Jr. has made the blend available to enthusiasts in 25-count wooden boxes, broadening access while maintaining exclusivity. Each box lid bears a heartfelt dedication written by Fuente Jr. to his father, who passed away in 2016. This gesture transforms the El Tributo into more than a commemorative cigar—it’s a deeply personal homage to family, craftsmanship, and perseverance.
The Blend and Construction
Rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in the Dominican Republic, El Tributo is a 7 x 50 Churchill crafted entirely from Dominican tobaccos. The wrapper, cultivated at Chateau de la Fuente, is a unique hybrid of the original Corojo seedcrossed with a new Fuente-developed variety. Unlike traditional OpusX wrappers, this one is harvested from the midsection of the tobacco plant, giving it a lighter hue and smoother texture.
Fuente describes the profile as medium-to-full-bodied—less potent than the standard red-labelled OpusX, yet bolder than the 20th Anniversary blue series. Each cigar carries a green OpusX band paired with a second band reading “Opus 25.”Retail price is set at $50 per cigar.
Limited Shipments and Availability
The first wave of shipments began several weeks ago, with additional allocations expected soon. Given the limited production and iconic status of the OpusX line, demand among collectors is high. Retailers are advised to expect more boxes in the coming weeks.
The OpusX La Familia 25 Years
Complementing the El Tributo release, Fuente has also unveiled the OpusX La Familia 25 Years, a perfecto-shapedcigar adorned with the same green band. According to Fuente, this variant features a slightly darker wrapper and delivers a stronger flavour profile—a fitting counterpart for aficionados seeking an intensified OpusX experience.
Together, these two cigars symbolise not only 25 years of innovation but the continuation of a family story steeped in artistry, heritage, and reverence.
