German Engineered Cigars Unveils RFID-Enabled Rings at InterTabac 2025
German Engineered Cigars has introduced RFID-enabled cigar rings at InterTabac 2025. This innovation lets smokers access blend details, authenticity, and more with a simple smartphone tap.
RFID Brings Technology to Tradition
At InterTabac in Dortmund, German Engineered Cigars showcased prototypes of its RFID-enabled rings. The technology impressed trade visitors, reinforcing the company’s mission to combine precision with transparency.
German Engineered Cigars is the first cigar maker to integrate RFID across its full portfolio. Every cigar can be uniquely identified. Smokers will gain instant access to blend information, the production date, and direct links to the brand’s website.
Expanding RFID Features
The rollout does not stop at identification. From 2026, German Engineered Cigars plans to expand the RFID platform with several new features.
Authentication and Transparency
Future updates will include authentication, ensuring that buyers can verify originality instantly. Production details will also become accessible, offering deeper transparency from factory to humidor.
Loyalty and Engagement
The company aims to use RFID as a bridge between smoker and brand. Planned features include loyalty rewards and direct channels for engagement. This approach highlights German Engineered Cigars’ focus on customer experience.
First Cigars to Carry RFID Rings
The first cigars equipped with RFID rings will be the Kraftwerk and Weltschmerz 5.25″ x 50 Robustos. Shipping is expected in December 2025. Other lines will follow soon after, bringing the technology across the brand’s portfolio.
A Vision for the Future
“Our vision has always been to engineer cigars not only as products but as experiences,” said Oliver Nickels, Co-Founder of German Engineered Cigars. The positive response at InterTabac confirmed RFID as the right step towards information, culture, and dialogue with clients.
