Gurkha Unveils Fat Boy: A Bold New Cigar Line

February 24, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Gurkha has launched its latest cigar line, Fat Boy, catering to aficionados who favour larger ring gauge cigars. Featuring a habano wrapper of undisclosed origin, the Fat Boy line is available in three robust vitolas, offering a bold smoking experience.

A Return to Larger Ring Gauges

Gurkha’s new Fat Boy line responds to consumer demand for heftier cigars. According to Jim Colucci, president of Gurkha Cigar Group, “Customers have been requesting a return of the larger ring gauges we used to carry, and we thought the Fat Boy is the perfect way to bring them back.”

The available sizes and pricing are as follows:
• Gurkha Fat Boy 4 x 60 — $8.95 (Box of 20, $179)
• Gurkha Fat Boy 5 x 66 — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
• Gurkha Fat Boy 6 x 66 — $9.95 (Box of 20, $199)

Manufacturing and Controversy

The Fat Boy line is being produced at an undisclosed factory in Nicaragua. However, controversy surrounds the brand as Kaizad Hansotia’s name is prominently featured on the packaging, despite prior assurances from Gurkha that his name would be removed following public backlash in 2020. The company had previously stated that Hansotia would resign as chairman and that future packaging would not include his name. This reversal has raised concerns about the brand’s credibility.

A Bold Step with Lingering Questions

While the Fat Boy line adds a heavyweight option to Gurkha’s portfolio, its packaging decision may leave some long-time customers questioning the company’s integrity. Whether this move affects consumer loyalty remains to be seen, but the Fat Boy cigars are now available for purchase nationwide.
