H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Heritage Finca Providencia: A Rare Single-Estate Cigar
Altadis U.S.A. is set to release a new and exclusive addition to its H. Upmann portfolio—a single-estate cigar made entirely from tobacco grown on one farm in Nicaragua. The H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Heritage Finca Providencia is a limited-edition release crafted solely with leaves from La Providencia, a farm in Estelí owned and cultivated by renowned cigarmaker A.J. Fernandez.
A Unique Nicaraguan Puro
Single-estate cigars are a rarity in the industry, making this release a highly anticipated addition for aficionados. Unlike typical blends that source tobacco from various farms, this Nicaraguan puro consists solely of carefully selected leaves from the 2021 and 2022 harvests at La Providencia. The blend is expected to deliver a medium-to-full-bodied smoke, reflecting the farm’s signature terroir and the meticulous cultivation techniques of Fernandez.
This cigar is an offshoot of the regular-production H. Upmann Nicaragua AJ Fernandez Heritage line. It continues the successful collaboration between A.J. Fernandez and Rafael Nodal, Vice President of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA, the parent company of Altadis U.S.A.
A Tradition of Estate-Grown Excellence
This isn’t the first time that Altadis U.S.A. and Fernandez have released a single-farm blend. Aficionados may remember the H. Upmann Nicaragua AJ Fernandez Finca La Lilia, which debuted in 2019 and featured tobacco exclusively from Fernandez’s La Lilia farm. The new Finca Providencia edition follows in its footsteps, reinforcing the commitment to quality and estate-grown craftsmanship.
Limited Edition with Exclusive Trade Show Preview
The H. Upmann by AJ Fernandez Heritage Finca Providencia will be available in just one size—a Toro Grande (6” x 55 ring gauge). Each cigar will retail for $20 before taxes, and it will be packaged in 20-count boxes, with only 8,250 boxes produced in total.
Retailers and enthusiasts attending the PCA 2025 trade show in New Orleans will get an exclusive first look at this release before it officially ships to stores on April 11, 2025. With its rarity, estate-grown tobacco, and masterful blending, this cigar is set to become a coveted item for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
