H. Upmann Magnum 50 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2019 Announced

Habanos S.A. has selected the H. Upmann Magnum 50 for its prestigious Gran Reserva Cosecha 2019, marking only the second time the brand has been chosen for this elite release. The announcement was made during the Festival del Habano XXV.

A Special Edition with Aged Tobacco

Gran Reserva cigars elevate a standard Cuban production cigar by incorporating meticulously aged tobacco. The Magnum 50 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2019 features a 6 3/10-inch (160mm) x 50 double robusto vitola, with tobacco sourced exclusively from the 2019 harvest in Vuelta Abajo, Cuba’s premier growing region. Each leaf has undergone five years of aging, ensuring a refined smoking experience beyond that of a regular Magnum 50.

Like all Gran Reserva releases, these cigars carry a black-and-gold secondary band distinguishing them from standard production lines. Production is strictly limited to 5,000 numbered boxes of 15 cigars, along with three-count boxes introduced last year. Pricing and release dates remain undisclosed.

Each year, Habanos S.A. selects one cigar for its Gran Reserva or Reserva program. Even years designate Reservas(aged three years), while odd years feature Gran Reservas (aged five years). The Gran Reserva line debuted in 2009and has included iconic releases:

Breaking Tradition

Initially, only “global brands” such as Cohiba, Montecristo, and Partagás were considered for these exclusive releases. However, Bolívar’s selection in 2020 signalled a shift in Habanos S.A.’s criteria. With the H. Upmann Magnum 50 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2019, this storied brand cements its place among the most prestigious Gran Reserva selections.
