May 5, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Intertabac 2018 La Ley and Nicarao. Nicarao and La Ley owner and blender Didier v Houvenaghel speaks about his limited edition La Ley and Nicarao at the Intertabac trade show. The cigars are all made at the factory of A.J. Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua. The cigars are available in over 30 countries worldwide.

The reserva lines from DH Boutique Cigars are created with extra-aged tobacco. Both Nicarao and La Ley are getting a limited edition Reserva Line. One reserva from 2015, and one reserva from 2016.

La Ley Reserva 2016

The blend for the La Ley Reserva 2016 stems from 2016. It’s not that the tobacco is from the 2016 harvest. The tobacco is much older. But the blend is from 2016. That’s when the cigars were rolled. The cigars are then age. After that, factory workers box them. After boxing, the cigars go through a double aging process. That means aging continues in the box. In this case for an additional two years until Houvenaghel thinks they are ready.

Nicarao Reserva 2015

Nicarao is the oldest brand in the DH Boutique Cigars portfolio. And what goes for the La Ley Reserva, goes for the Nicarao Reserva as well. The blend is finalized in the year of the reserva. In this case 2015. The cigars are rolled and aged. Then after boxing, the second stage of aging starts. So by the time the cigars are available on the market, the tobacco is almost vintage.
