J.C. Newman Hits a Home Run with Limited Edition Baseball Bat Humidors

April 11, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Blending America’s favourite pastime with cigar tradition, J.C. Newman introduces the Home Run Humidor – a striking collector’s item crafted from game-used baseball bats and designed for cigar enthusiasts with a love of the sport.

A Tribute to Baseball and Craftsmanship

For over 100 years, J.C. Newman has celebrated the intersection of cigars and baseball. That heritage continues with the Home Run Humidor – a limited-edition series of just 50 humidors, each handcrafted from professional baseball bats by artisan Jason LeGear of Milwaukee Humidor Co.

Set to debut at the Premium Cigar Association trade show in New Orleans, each humidor is made using American Maple and Birch, with European Beech from the bats themselves. Accented with Wisconsin-sourced Walnut to resemble baseball stitching, these humidors are shaped like a home plate and offer an artistic yet functional homage to the game.

Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner of the company, said: “Baseball and cigars go hand-in-glove… These unique humidors are shaped like home plate with five sides. They were handcrafted from broken bats provided by a professional baseball team. Due to league rules, I am not able to disclose the team.”

Each piece is a labour of love. LeGear, known for crafting unique pieces like the American All-Star Humidor from the 2011 NBA All-Star court and custom humidors for the Tampa Bay Lightning, highlights the challenges in turning round bats into flat, seamless veneers.

With a capacity of 100–125 cigars, each Home Run Humidor will include 25 Tampa Smokers cigars. The retail price is set at $2,000, with availability beginning this summer. These bespoke humidors mark the fourth of five new product announcements from J.C. Newman at the PCA trade show.

Retailers attending the show will have the chance to meet LeGear in person and witness this exceptional craftsmanship up close—a true celebration of American tradition, art, and cigars.
