J.C. Newman Ships LeRoy Neiman 2025 Collector’s Edition
Tampa’s oldest cigar maker, J.C. Newman Cigar Co., has begun shipping the LeRoy Neiman 2025 Collector’s Editionto retailers. This marks the third consecutive year the company has collaborated with the LeRoy Neiman and Janet Byrne Neiman Foundation to honour the legendary American painter known for his vivid, expressionist works.
A Tribute to LeRoy Neiman and Jazz Culture
LeRoy Neiman’s art often captured the rhythm and energy of life—whether in sports, music, or leisure. For this year’s Collector’s Edition, the featured artwork is “Jazz Horns”, a vibrant celebration of brass instruments and improvisation.
According to Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner of J.C. Newman, the connection to jazz was deliberate. “The torpedo shape reminds me of a horn,” he explained, noting that the cigar’s design complements the PCA trade show’s return to New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz.
The 6¼ x 52 Torpedo uses a Havana Rosado wrapper from Ecuador, a sun-grown Florida binder, and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic—a blend crafted to reflect Neiman’s colourful energy.
Handmade at El Reloj in Tampa
Production takes place at the historic El Reloj factory in Tampa, Florida, where each cigar is rolled by hand. Only 15,000 cigars will be made, presented in 750 cabinets of 20. Each retails for $22, adding a sense of collectability to this artistic tribute.
Profits Dedicated to Arts Education
In keeping with previous collaborations, all profits from the LeRoy Neiman 2025 Collector’s Edition will be donated to support arts education in Tampa’s public schools.
Tara Zabor, executive director of the Neiman Foundation, explained the significance: “Every cigar from the LeRoy Neiman 2025 Collector’s Edition directly supports our ongoing mission. The profits help us improve arts education in local public schools, keeping LeRoy’s passion for nurturing creativity alive.”
