J.C. Newman Offering the Chance to Roll a Cigar
As cigar lovers we probably all have seen videos of torcedores on YouTube. Maybe you’ve even seen it with your own eyes at a local cigar store or on a vacation to any of the cigar producing countries. But how many cigar smokers have had the chance to try rolling a cigar themselves? Not many, but J.C. Newman is now offering that possibility to every visitor of the El Reloj Cigar Factory in Tampa, Florida.
The oldest still active family owned cigar producer in the United States is starting to offer cigar rolling classes. A course costs $50 and includes a two hour instruction, a look at the cigar museum and, of course, whatever cigars you roll by hand. A 75-minute guided tour of the entire facility is offered separately if you want to continue your tobacco education. Classes take place on the top floor of the historic brick building, home of the El Reloj cigar factory.
After this course, you will have a renewed respect for the skilled people that make the cigars we enjoy so much because you will understand that it’s not easy. Rolling cigars is a skill, it’s an art.
