J.C. Newman Updates the El Baton Line

June 14, 2022 Billie 1 min read

J.C. Newman updated the El Baton line with a new blend and a new look. The changes were announced a year and a half ago and finally took place. The new look includes a new logo with a different font and different colors giving the cigars a much more contemporary look. The new band also states where the cigars are made, which is Esteli, Nicaragua and that the cigars are made by hand.

The blend is still a Nicaraguan puro but bigger and bolder. The cigars are made at the PENSA factory which is owned by J.C. Newman. It’s also the factory where Brick House, Perla del Mar, Yagua and the world’s most popular bundle cigar, Quorum, are made.

The history of El Baton goes back to 1914. Newman created the brand when the family business was still in Cleveland, Ohio and back in the day it was a Clear Havana. An American made cigar with Cuban tobacco. It was only available for about a decade but made a comeback in 2008 under the guidance of Julius Ceasar’s grandsons Bobby and Eric Newman.
