Jessi Flores joins Mombacho Cigars
Jessi Flores joins Mombacho Cigars as the creative director. This is already the fifth change for the Nicaraguan cigar brand from Granada in the last few months. First, the company founder Cam Heaps became the new president. Jared Ingrisano joined as director of global sales. Former president and master blender Claudio Sgroi left the company. That left a gap in the management team. A gap filled by Indiana Ortez. She’s now the general manager and master blender. And the latest Mombacho news is that Jessi Flores is the creative director.
Brand development and design
In his new role at Mombacho Cigars, Flores is responsible for brand development and design. He will also have involvement in the blending of cigars and in customer relations. During his 20 years at Drew Estate, Flores was one of the faces of the company, talking to consumers all the time. An experience he took to a new level after opening his webshop victms1975 where customer service is key. His involvement with Mombacho won’t interfere with Victms1975 Flores told us.
Flores’s fame comes from his twenty years at Drew Estate. They broke the mold for the use of art in the cigar industry and that was all Jonathan Drew and Jessi Flores. Eventually, a whole studio with local Nicaraguan artists was formed, Subculture studios. After Flores left Drew Estate, Subculture Studios continued to create art for Drew Estate.
Flores says that the designs he’s making for Mombacho are very different from the style of art at Drew Estate. Where Drew Estate uses more graffiti and street art style, his work for Mombacho will draw inspiration from Nicaragua and its culture. Since Nicaragua is the core of what Mombacho does, that only seems fitting. The brand was founded with love for Nicaragua in mind, and that’s why all Mombacho cigars are 100% Nicaraguan Puros.
