Jessi Flores leaves Mombacho Cigars
Jessi Flores leaves Mombacho Cigars. Just a few weeks after appointing Jessi Flores as creative director of Mombacho Cigars the collaboration falls apart. Flores just told us that he is leaving Mombacho and going back to being a free agent artist.
According to Flores, his departure is friendly and a mutual agreement. The reason for the split is creative differences. The break is a surprise as Flores only joined Mombacho Cigars a month ago. Appointing a creative director was one of the changes at Mombacho Cigars recently. Founder Cam Heaps came back as president of the company. Claudio Sgroi left. Indiana Ortez is the new general manager and master blender. And with Jared Ingrisano, Mombacho hired a director of global sales. If Mombacho is looking for a new creative director is unclear at the moment.
Jessi Flores
Flores is known for his twenty years at Drew Estate. Side by side with Jonathan Drew he was the one who introduced graffiti-inspired art in the cigar industry. He is also the founder of Subculture Studios, a collective of Nicaraguan artists who create all the Drew Estate art. Much of the street art in the city of Esteli also comes from Flores and Subculture Studios.
After his departure at Drew Estate, Flores was a free agent. His website www.victims1975.com sells all kinds of cigart such as apparel. He was also responsible for the artwork of the Rock-a-Feller Art of Magic cigar. The Phuck Cancer campaign, a fundraiser for his daughter Stephanie Nicole is also a big success in the cigar community. For this fundraiser, Flores works with Janus Coffee and other artists such as Neal Wollenberg.
