Joya de Nicaragua Celebrates 200 Years of Freedom
The new Joya de Nicaragua Dos Cientos is a new Uber-premium cigar from the oldest cigar factory in Nicaragua. It is part of the Obras Maestras series with the Uno, Cinco Decadas, and Cuatro Cinco series. This new Joya de Nicaragua Dos Cientos celebrates 200 years of Central American independence from the Spanish empire.

Where the three other blends in the Obras Maestras series celebrate the 45th and 50th birthday of Joya de Nicaragua, this Dos Cientos celebrates a big historical event for the region instead of the factory. The Uno was once the official diplomatic cigar for Nicaragua.
“For us, there is always a link between the past and the present,” says Juan Ignacio Martinez, president of Joya de Nicaragua, via a press release. “We are who we are today because of the decisions that were made hundreds of years ago. Dos Cientos pays tribute to those 200 years and who we are today as the leading cigar producing country and region in the world.”
The cigar
The blend shows that the Joya de Nicaragua Dos Cientos is about the region. The tobacco comes from all over Central America. From Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic.
“We want to celebrate that achievement of our own birth as a country and as a region, so we’re showcasing tobaccos from different American countries,” says Dr. Alejandro Martinez Cuenca, owner of Joya de Nicaragua, in a press release.
The cigar will only be available in one vitola, a 6×54 toro. It is limited to 2000 boxes of 21 cigars. Individuals who purchase a full box will get an invite to a special virtual celebration to celebrate Central American Independence Day on September 15th. Joya de Nicaragua hopes that all participants smoke the Joya de Nicaragua Dos Cientos during the virtual event.
“We will invite people to smoke it together with us and talk about our history, the value of that history, and the significance of who we are, not only for ourselves but for the rest of the world,” says Martinez Cuenca. “The leaf’s role in the development of our culture and our society has been fundamental. Tobacco was ever-present as we created our own economic, political, and cultural identities. That was the moment in which we became what we are today as a region.” he adds.
