Joya de Nicaragua Revives Cuatro Cinco Legacy with “Secret Cask” Limited Edition
Joya de Nicaragua celebrates the legacy of its 2013 Cuatro Cinco with the new “Secret Cask” Limited Edition—an ultra-premium revival of the brand’s most iconic masterpiece.
A Legacy Reborn
When Joya de Nicaragua introduced Cuatro Cinco “Edición Limitada” in 2013 to mark its 45th anniversary, the cigar world took notice. Crafted entirely from Nicaraguan tobaccos, including five-year-aged ligero leaves matured in whiskey-rum oak casks, it delivered a seductive flavour and an unforgettable aroma.
Limited to just 4,500 boxes, the original Cuatro Cinco sold out within weeks and became a benchmark of Nicaraguan craftsmanship. The blend later evolved into Cuatro Cinco “Reserva Especial,” but aficionados continued to reminisce about the elusive 2013 edition.
Now, over a decade later, Joya de Nicaragua rekindles that spirit with a release that pays homage to both time and tradition: the Cuatro Cinco “Secret Cask.”
The Birth of the Secret Cask
The story behind the “Secret Cask” stretches back to 2013, when Joya set aside several barrels of ageing tobacco for a future project. These barrels rested in a secluded chamber within the factory—carefully climate-controlled and treated almost as sacred.
Juan Ignacio Martínez, Executive President of Joya de Nicaragua, described it best:
“We began calling it the Secret Cask — a sanctuary where temperature and humidity are carefully regulated, and where time itself becomes an ingredient. These barrels have cradled our finest leaves, whispering their secrets into the tobacco, deepening its soul.”
After years of maturation, the Secret Cask’s treasure is finally unveiled.
Blend and Presentation
The Cuatro Cinco “Secret Cask” maintains the same blend as the original Edición Limitada—100% Nicaraguan tobaccos in the wrapper, binder, and filler. Each cigar measures 6 x 54 in a box-pressed format, a hallmark of the 2013 release.
Production is strictly capped at 1,500 boxes, with 700 allocated to the U.S. and 800 to international markets. Each 10-count box retails at $189.50 (or $18.95 per cigar) and includes a mini-casket containing filler tobaccos that replicate the unique Secret Cask ageing process.
Rolled exclusively by Joya’s most experienced torcedores, the cigar delivers a medium-to-full-bodied profile rich in woody and sweet undertones, capped by a velvety, complex finish.
Availability
The Cuatro Cinco “Secret Cask” will begin shipping to select retailers in early November 2025. With its deep heritage and limited production, it promises to be one of the most coveted releases of the year for collectors and loyal fans of Joya de Nicaragua’s Obras Maestras line.
