La Bohème Returns: A Bold Revival Under Aging Room

December 4, 2024 Inspector X 2 min read

La Bohème is making a grand comeback—not the famed Puccini opera, but the cherished cigar brand. Relaunching under the Aging Room series in January, this reimagined cigar promises a richer, bolder blend crafted for modern aficionados.

When La Bohème first debuted in 2014, it was a Dominican-made cigar by Jochy Blanco, primarily composed of Dominican tobaccos. Created by Rafael Nodal, the line eventually retired but remained close to his heart. Now, as vice president of product capability at Altadis U.S.A., Nodal is bringing La Bohème back with a twist—an entirely new blend crafted in Nicaragua by the renowned A.J. Fernandez.

This revival, dubbed Aging Room La Bohème, introduces a stronger profile, made entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco, except for its innovative wrapper: a hybrid of Broadleaf and Habano seed grown in Connecticut. This marks the first time Nodal and Altadis have used this unique leaf, elevating the cigar’s flavour complexity.

The updated line retains its original four sizes: Mimi (3 ½ x 46, $17.90), Pittore (5 ⅛ x 52, $23.92), Poeta (5 ¾ x 54, $24.52), and Musico (6 ¼ x 60, $24.90). These cigars will be packaged in 20-count boxes, adorned with vintage, pre-Revolution-style bands that pay homage to the original design.

Reflecting on the relaunch, Nodal shared, “The original La Bohème was a tribute to the cigars my grandfather smoked in Cuba. The new blend looks to the future, combining my passions for music, cigars, and my Cuban heritage, with bolder flavours and unique tobaccos.

La Bohème’s return as an Aging Room sub-brand is set to strike a chord with cigar enthusiasts seeking operatic flavours and timeless craftsmanship.
