Due to its popularity and the strong demand from enthusiasts, it was brought back for preorders at the 2023 PCA trade show in July. The Goldie line, renowned for its limited annual releases, was initially introduced in 2012. It was created as a heartfelt tribute to Goldie Drell Paley, the wife of La Palina’s founder, Sam Paley. Sam established La Palina in 1896, making it a brand with a rich history and legacy in the world of premium cigars.
Just like its predecessors, the Goldie Prominente is meticulously hand-rolled at the El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami. This particular smoke is a toro, measuring 6 1/2 inches in length with a 48-ring gauge. One of the distinguishing features of the Goldie line is the signature fantail cap that adorns the cigar. Its flavour profile is characterized by an Ecuador Habano wrapper, an Ecuadoran binder, and a blend of fillers from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Notably, the Nicaraguan filler includes a small quantity of medio tiempo, a rare and highly coveted sprouting of small leaves that occasionally appear on the top portion of select tobacco plants. This exceptional addition contributes to the cigar’s unique and complex flavour profile.
The production of the Goldie Prominente is notably limited, with only 500 boxes containing ten cigars each being crafted. The cigars are offered at a suggested retail price of $25 per cigar, reflecting the premium quality and exclusivity of this release.
