Manifatture Sigaro Toscano Does Not Only Produce Cigars in Italy
The famous Toscano cigars, but also has a factory in Pennsylvania after they acquired Parodi in 2015. Parodi is the parent of Avanti and Parodi cigars. But the decision has been made to close the factory in Dunmore and move production to the Dominican Republic.
“The last two years have been difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic: it is getting harder and harder to hire skilled people, able to learn and manage production activities and to guarantee business sustainability in medium and long term,” said the company in a statement. “Furthermore, all costs have risen. Those reasons have been crucial in the decision.”
The source of the cigars will be Family Tobacco Traders who use the La Aurora facilities in the Dominican Republic The blends will not change and the cigars will be continued to make with American tobaccos only. 17 employees of the Dunmore factory will be laid off at the end of the month. The Dunmore facilities will remain the distribution centre for Parodi, Avanti and Toscano in the USA.
