Martin Kove Enters the Cigar World with The Prodigal Son
Martin Kove, the iconic actor known for his role as John Kreese in The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, is making his mark in the cigar industry. Teaming up with industry veterans, he is launching The Prodigal Son, a cigar line that shares its name with an upcoming television series.
A Collaboration of Expertise
Kove has partnered with Paul DiSilvio of La Casa Grande Cigars and Sanj Patel, owner of Sanj’s Smoke Shop and founder of the SP1014 brand. DiSilvio, who previously collaborated with actor Chazz Palminteri on A Bronx Tale cigars, brings his expertise to this project, ensuring a product of high craftsmanship and quality.
The cigars are being produced at Tabacalera Jurarip, the esteemed Dominican Republic factory run by Chico Rivas, which has also worked with Patel on other premium releases. While the exact blend remains undisclosed, the team assures cigar enthusiasts that it will deliver a sophisticated and satisfying smoking experience.
Limited Release and Future Expansion
The Prodigal Son will debut in a single 6 x 52 toro vitola, retailing at $14 per cigar and available in 20-count boxes. This initial launch will be highly exclusive, with availability limited to just three retailers: La Casa Grande Cigars in the Bronx, NY; Sanj’s Smoke Shop in Bloomfield, NJ; and Smoke Inn, which operates multiple locations in South Florida.
According to a press release, there are plans to expand production and distribution, with hopes of making the cigars more widely available by late 2025 or early 2026. If the initial reception is strong, The Prodigal Son could become a permanent fixture in the premium cigar market.
A Promising Debut
For cigar enthusiasts and fans of Martin Kove alike, The Prodigal Son represents an exciting fusion of Hollywood and fine tobacco craftsmanship. With an all-star team behind it and a promising launch strategy, this line is poised to make waves in the cigar community. Whether you’re a fan of Kove’s work or simply in search of a high-quality smoke, this release is certainly one to watch.
