Martin Kove’s The Prodigal Son Cigar Line Arrives in Stores
The Prodigal Son cigar line from Martin Kove, famed for his role as John Kreese in The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, has begun shipping to select retailers in the United States. This highly anticipated release ties into Kove’s upcoming TV and comic book projects.
A Cigar Inspired by Screen and Page
The cigars share their name with an upcoming television series and a four-part comic book developed by Kove. The initial release features a single 6 x 52 toro vitola. The blend remains undisclosed, adding an element of mystery.
Production takes place at Tabacalera Jurarip, Chico Rivas’ factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic. This factory has also created cigars for industry names such as Sanj Patel.
Collaboration Behind the Blend
Kove developed The Prodigal Son in partnership with Paul DiSilvio of La Casa Grande Cigars and Sanj Patel of Sanj’s Smoke Shop, known for the SP1014 brand. DiSilvio has a track record of celebrity collaborations, including actor Chazz Palminteri’s A Bronx Tale cigar line.
Pricing is set at $14 per cigar, with 20-count boxes retailing at $280.
Initial Retail Launch
The launch is taking place at three key retailers:
La Casa Grande Cigars in the Bronx, New York
Sanj’s Smoke Shop in Bloomfield, New Jersey
Smoke Inn, with multiple locations across South Florida
These outlets will be the first to offer the new release to customers.
Future Availability Plans
According to a press statement, the team aims to expand both production and distribution. Wider availability is planned for Autumn 2025 or early 2026, giving more cigar enthusiasts the opportunity to try this new blend.
