Matilde Cigars Pays Tribute to José A. Seijas with Para José Seijas
In honour of the late José A. Seijas, Matilde Cigars has announced a special release named Para José Seijas (“For José Seijas”). Shipping in April 2025, this cigar pays homage to the legendary cigarmaker whose innovations and passion left an indelible mark on the industry.
José A. Seijas, a Cigar Aficionado Hall-of-Famer, passed away in November 2024 at the age of 74. Renowned for his contributions at Tabacalera de Garcia and later for founding Matilde Cigars with his sons Enrique and Ricardo, José was a cornerstone of the cigar world. “Family was the cornerstone of our father’s existence,” said Enrique Seijas in a press release. “This is the first cigar under our company to carry his name, celebrating the profound impact he had on our lives.”
Para José Seijas is meticulously crafted at Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic. The blend features an Ecuadoran wrapper over Dominican binder and filler, delivering a rich and nuanced flavour profile. The cigar will be offered in a single vitola: a toro measuring 6 inches by 52 ring gauge. Each cigar will retail for $18 and will be packaged in boxes of 20.
This annual release is initially limited to 750 boxes, totalling 15,000 cigars. Adding to its significance, $10 from each box sold will be donated to the Parkinson’s Foundation in the Dominican Republic, a cause close to the Seijas family.
Para José Seijas not only honours a legend but also supports a meaningful cause, embodying the values and legacy of José A. Seijas. Be sure to secure this heartfelt tribute when it becomes available in April.
