Matilde Serena and Matilde Oscuro are coming to Switzerland
After achieving almost everything as a cigar maker, José Seijas left the world’s largest cigar manufacturer – Tabacalera de Garcìa. That was in 2012 and at that time he was responsible for the production of up to 60 million cigars annually. He also created many legendary blends that are still very successful on the market today. Instead of going into his well-deserved retirement, he started all over again. Together with his son Enrique Seijas, he founded the Matilde brand and fulfilled a lifelong dream.
Seijas drew inspiration for the brand name from books and came across »La Matilde«, a former cigar factory in Santiago from the 19th century. However, the cigar factory closed when founder Simeon Mencia died in 1910. Despite its short existence, the manufactory was important.
Matilde was meanwhile produced in its own factory in the La Romana region, meanwhile production has returned to Santiago and is rolled in the Tabacalera Palma factory by Jochy Blanco (La Galera)
Now the Matilde Serena and Matilde Oscuro are coming to Switzerland. The Royal Cigar company is releasing the cigars soon in the Robusto, Corona, Grande and Toro Bravo sizes.
