Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua Jar: A Collector’s Treasure and Personal Humidor

April 24, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

A striking fusion of form and function, this ceramic jar from Altadis U.S.A. houses ten of Montecristo’s finest and doubles as a handsome, display-worthy humidor.

Jars have long had a place in cigar history, both as storage solutions and collectable display pieces. Continuing this time-honoured tradition, Altadis U.S.A. has unveiled the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua Heirloom Ceramic Jar—a sleek, glossy black vessel designed to hold cigars in style. This latest release is not only a nod to the past but also a celebration of craftsmanship, cigar heritage, and aesthetic refinement.

Designed to hold 10 Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua No. 2 cigars—Cigar Aficionado’s No. 2 cigar of 2021—this jar is more than just decorative. It’s a fully functional personal humidor. According to Marina Tuntes, Brand Manager at Altadis U.S.A., “This heirloom ceramic jar is not only a functional personal humidor, but a beautifully crafted work of art designed to be proudly displayed in any setting.”

Each Montecristo No. 2 cigar is a torpedo format, measuring 6 1/8 inches long with a 52 ring gauge, and made entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco cultivated by master blender A.J. Fernandez. The result is a bold, complex smoke, rich in flavour and depth—a fitting cigar for such a distinguished presentation.

Although this jar comes pre-packed with ten cigars, it can accommodate up to 20 Churchill-sized cigars, making it both practical and adaptable for cigar enthusiasts. The jars are set to arrive at retail in June, just in time for Father’s Day, and will retail for approximately $255 before taxes.

Tuntes adds, “It reflects the heritage and sophistication of the Montecristo brand. And we believe it will resonate deeply with those who appreciate both the artistry of fine cigars and the elegance of a well-curated collector’s piece.

Whether you’re an avid collector or a Montecristo devotee, this heirloom jar offers a unique way to showcase and store your cigars—elevating any smoking space with a touch of timeless style.
