My Father Cigars is a True Family Business

June 9, 2022 Billie 2 min read

Not only it’s founded and run by Jose Don Pepin Garcia and his son Jaime and daughter Janny, but even their name comes from family. The first My Father cigar was a tribute of Jaime and Janny to their father, and their much acclaimed Le Bijou line is a tribute of Don Pepin to his father, who was born in 1922.

“This year is the 100th anniversary of my grandfather’s birth,” said Jaime Garcia, the son in the My Father team, “and that’s why we are releasing two cigars to commemorate his birthday.”

My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años Limited Edition comes in two sizes, Corona Extra, measuring 5 1/2 inches by 48 ring gauge, and Corona Especial, at 6 1/2 by 44. The Corona Especial is round, but the Corona Extra has a soft box pressing. Both cigars are topped with pigtail caps.

The cigars are Nicaraguan puros, tweaked versions of the original. All the tobacco is grown in Nicaragua by the Garcia’s on their San Rafael, Las Quebradas and San José farms. The wrappers on the cigars are exceptionally dark, what the Garcias call “oscuro oscuro,” or “Habano My Father.”

Only 1,922 boxes of each size will be produced, with 22 in each box.

The cigars are ornately presented, with three bands, including a bright orange foot band reading “100 Años.”
