Mystery cigar coming from Mexico
Mystery cigar coming from Mexico. An unknown cigar company from Mexico is emerging. Casa 1910, and the only thing known is that Juan Manuel Santiago Casillas is the blender of the cigar. He was the marketing manager for Importadora y Exportadora de Puros y Tabacos S.A. de C.V., the exclusive Habanos distributor for Mexico. He is also a Master in Habanos, the highest qualification that you can earn at the Habanos Academy. It is not the first Mexican cigar brand using the name Casa with a year. Casa Turrent has several blends in the Casa Turrent line with a year referring to an important year for the Casa Turrent family.
Mexican market
Even though the company will be present at the PCA Convention & Trade Show next week, the cigars won’t be for sale in the United States soon. Casa 1901 is releasing the cigar in Mexico first. They are not just a cigar brand, but a lifestyle brand. Once they are established in Mexico, they will cross the border to the United States. Casa 1910 hopes that they will do so at the end of the year.
The first offering of Casa 1910 is the Cuchillo Parado. It is a reference to the city where the Mexican Revolution began. It is there where 70 soldiers overtook the government forces from the self-declared president of Mexico, Porfirio Diaz. That took place in November of 1910.
The cigar comes with a three-year-old Mexican Sumatra wrapper. The binder and filler are Mexican too with a minimum age of five years. The aging continues for at least six months after rolling. The rolling takes place in San Andres Tuxtla, in an unknown factory. There will be several different box sizes but the cigar will only come in a 5×50 Robusto for now.
