New Habanos Point in Madeira, Portugal

October 24, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

The autonomous Portuguese region of Madeira has five official Habanos Points now, joining 60 Habanos Points at the Portuguese mainland. Four of the five Habanos Points in Madeira are located at the capital of Funchal, the last one is in Santa Cruz.

Habanos Point

Habanos has several concepts. The La Casa del Habano concept is the best known and most renowned one. A class higher is the Cohiba Atmosphere concept. And a step below the La Casa del Habano concept is the Habanos Specialist concept. The Habanos Terrace concept is more suitable for hotels and bars. Small shops, where space is an issue, can join the Habanos Point concept.

If the professionalism and dedication in the retail location are above average, local Habanos distributors can introduce the Habanos Point concept. The staff should have at least a degree from the Habanos Academy’s Junior Course. The conservation of Cuban cigars should be optimal. The final requirement is that Cuban cigars should cover at least half of the available space for premium handmade cigars.

Madeira

Geographically Madeira is African, located west of Morocco in the Atlantic Ocean, north of the Spanish Canary Islands. It’s been part of Portugal since 1419, but it is autonomous. Upon discovery, the island was not inhabited. The island is known for its fortified wine, gastronomy, and its beautiful flora and fauna. But it’s also the place of birth of one of the best football players of all-time, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The five new Habanos points in Madeira are:
Tabacaria Sousa – Press Center, Funchal
Posto Repsol São Martinho, Funchal
Tabacaria Roda da Sorte, Funchal
Posto Galp Poço Barral, Funchal
Posto Repsol, Caniço, Santa Cruz
