Patina Cigars Launches The Red Pill as New Core Line
Patina Cigars unveils The Red Pill, a bold new core line and the company’s first box-pressed release, offering a rich blend and symbolic meaning rooted in founder Mo Maali’s personal journey.
Patina Expands with The Red Pill
Patina Cigars has announced its newest addition, The Red Pill, which will join its core range as the company’s first-ever box-pressed cigar. The line reflects a shift toward fuller-bodied expressions within the Patina portfolio. Retailers can expect shipments to begin within the next two weeks.
The Red Pill will be offered in two box-pressed formats: a 5 x 54 and a 6 x 54, each packaged in boxes of 20 cigars. The cigars are priced at $13 and $15 respectively.
A Blend with Depth and Strength
The Red Pill features a Mexican San Andrés Oscuro wrapper, known for its rich and complex flavour, paired with a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a combination of U.S. and Nicaraguan fillers. This composition delivers a robust, full-bodied smoke designed to appeal to experienced cigar enthusiasts.
Founder Mo Maali describes The Red Pill as a tribute to the brand’s evolution and to his earlier work with the Sultans of Smoke Podcast. “The box press is an homage to the Max Press cigar that my buddy Drew Brandt and I did almost 10 years ago,” Maali said. “The Red Pill is a continuation of building the fuller end of the Patina portfolio.”
Meaning Behind the Name
The name “The Red Pill” carries personal significance for Maali. It draws from his experiences during the 2009 Global Financial Crisis, when he worked for the FDIC closing banks across the United States.
“A red pill is an awakening to a truth that makes you question your reality,” Maali explained. “That period shaped how I understand the global financial system and the darker elements within it.”
This philosophical foundation adds an introspective layer to the cigar, aligning Patina’s craftsmanship with a deeper story of awareness and resilience.
