A Global Profile with Industry Expertise

Carioni brings over 18 years of experience across seven countries, including the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. His background combines diplomacy, business leadership, and cigar industry knowledge.

A former Deputy Ambassador for Nicaragua to the United Nations Maritime Organization, Carioni has represented his country in coffee, sugar, and cocoa sectors. His work has consistently promoted cultural heritage and cross-border collaboration.

Commitment to Advocacy and Heritage

“As a proud Latin American, I believe in the cultural and economic importance of this industry—not only for my home country, but for every producing and importing nation,” Carioni said. “I will work alongside PCA members to protect, nurture, and grow our industry through education, advocacy, and partnerships.”

Carioni already serves as Chair of the PCA’s Education Subcommittee. He has led training programmes, cultural exchanges, and thought leadership projects. Upcoming initiatives include a collaboration with a South Florida university and the World Cigar Show in Dubai.

Expanding PCA’s Reach

PCA Executive Director Joshua Habursky praised Carioni’s appointment: “His expertise will help grow membership outside the United States, create programmes for U.S. retailers in the Caribbean Basin, and develop universal education programmes for all members.”

Before joining the PCA, Carioni held senior positions at Casa Turrent, Tor Imports in Great Britain, and Gesinta in Spain. He also co-founded The Cigar Academy, a respected global educational institution for premium cigar appreciation.

Looking Ahead

In his new role, Carioni will spearhead PCA’s education strategy, strengthen global alliances, and design impactful programmes for members worldwide. His work will expand PCA’s advocacy efforts while reinforcing the cultural and economic value of premium cigars.
