Peter James Co. Retires Signature Leather Cigar Cases After More Than a Decade

June 23, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Peter James Co. is discontinuing its iconic leather cigar cases due to rising production costs. Only a limited number of discounted Black Label cases remain available, marking the end of a product that helped define the brand.

Peter James Discontinues Flagship Cigar Case Line Amid Rising Costs
After more than twelve years of craftsmanship, Peter James Co. has announced the discontinuation of its signature leather cigar cases—a move that marks the end of an era for both the brand and the luxury cigar accessory market. The decision comes in response to rising labour and material costs, which have made continued production unsustainable.

The company’s final inventory includes just 40 Black Label cases, currently available on its website at over 35% off, though the price tag remains premium at $945. Made in Italy, these cases feature an exterior crafted from Saffiano leather and a soft lambskin interior. The design accommodates five cigars and includes specialised compartments for a lighter, cutter, and a larger storage pocket. It also integrates a slot behind the cigar area for a 60-gram Boveda pack, combining functionality with high-end materials.

“This decision comes with mixed emotions,” said John Laurendi, founder of Peter James Co., in a press release. “We’re saying goodbye to a product that not only launched a category, but also helped shape our brand’s identity.”

Peter James first introduced its leather cases more than a decade ago and became known for refining the product over time with upgraded leathers, zippers, and internal features. The company’s decision to sunset the line doesn’t mark a withdrawal from the cigar lifestyle space, however. Peter James will continue to offer its Hydro Lock multipurpose storage bags, as well as its own line of cigars developed in collaboration with Constella Group.

For longtime fans and collectors, these final Black Label cases represent not just a product, but a chapter in modern cigar culture—one that’s coming to a close.
