Pio Comes With a New Resurrection

October 24, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Pio comes with a new Resurrection. The new cigar is a 6×56 box-pressed line addition. It will only be available in limited quantities, yet on a regular basis. Alberto Medina is releasing the cigars to celebrate the 24th anniversary of PIO Cigars.

The cigars come from Nicaragua. But the blend does not use any Nicaraguan tobacco. The binder and filler are from the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is Mexican San Andres. The MSRP for the new Toro Gordo is set at $ 13.00. As far as we know Pio cigars are only available in the United States

Little Havana

In 1996, Alberto J. Medina stopped his career in music and followed his dream. Being a cigar manufacturer was always something Medina wanted to be. With his heritage in Cuba, it was not an unusual dream. So in 1996, it was time to start PIO Cigars. The cigar boom was still going on, Pio began making cigars in Miami. In Little Havana, the Cuban district of Miami where many other brands were born.

Little Havana is the place where Padron still has its headquarters. It is where Ernesto Perez Carrillo made a name for himself at La Gloria Cubana. And across the street from La Gloria Cubana, you can find El Titan de Bronze. El Titan is a small factory known for the La Palina Goldie, several Warped, and some Padilla blends. It is also where Willy Hererra made his first steps as a blender. Padilla Cigars had a factory in Little Havana for a while. And My Father Cigars had its start in the same block as La Gloria Cubana.
