Plasencia Cigars Unveils El Año del Caballo — A Majestic Tribute to the Year of the Horse
A Masterpiece Inspired by Power and Freedom
Plasencia Cigars charges into 2026 with its most captivating zodiac release yet — El Año del Caballo. Crafted to honour the symbolic spirit of the horse, this limited-edition cigar combines artistry, innovation, and cultural heritage in a way few cigars ever have.
Limited to only 6,000 ten-count boxes worldwide, this collector’s edition embodies freedom, resilience, and movement — key traits of the horse and the Plasencia legacy itself. “The horse embodies independence, resilience, and forward motion,” said Néstor Andrés Plasencia, fifth generation. “El Año del Caballo is more than a cigar—it is a tribute to mastery in motion. From the rare braided finish to the power and balance of the blend, this release reflects our legacy and our relentless drive to innovate.”
The Art of the Horse-Braid Cap
Presented in a commanding Parejo Gordo (7 x 58) vitola, El Año del Caballo features a remarkable horse-braid cap — a first for Plasencia and a triumph of precision craftsmanship. The intricate finish is created by three artisans working in harmony: a master buncher, braider, and roller.
This process requires double the production time of a standard cigar, supported by meticulous humidity control to preserve the braid’s form. Each cigar is sealed with a dual pañuelo wrap, maintaining its heirloom-level quality.
A Tasting Experience of Balance and Strength
The smoking journey reflects the energy and elegance of the horse. It begins with soft layers of creamy cacao and florals, moving into a heart of toasted wood before settling into a finish of roasted nuts and sun-dried raisins. The profile is both indulgent and harmonious, blending sweetness and strength in perfect motion.
A Symbol of Art and Heritage
Each El Año del Caballo is housed in a red lacquer collector’s box, embossed with a sculpted braid motif. Red and gold hues — traditional symbols of fortune and prosperity — give the presentation a regal, ceremonial tone.
At the heart of its design lies the Flying Horse of Gansu, a Han dynasty bronze masterpiece from the 2nd century CE. This mythic figure, balanced mid-air on one hoof, represents motion, balance, and grace — values deeply aligned with Plasencia’s vision.
Limited Availability
With only 6,000 boxes produced for global release, El Año del Caballo will begin shipping in November 2026 to select premium tobacconists and luxury lounges worldwide. Once sold out, it joins the vault of Plasencia’s most coveted creations.
