Plasencia releasing a duty-free sampler. The Nicaraguan tobacco grower and cigar company will be releasing a sampler exclusively for duty-free in the second quarter of this year. The two most important duty-free operators in the world have taken on the new sampler to be added to their portfolio.

The rollout will start in Europe, the rest of the world will follow soon after. Up until now, the duty-free market was dominated by Habanos and Davidoff. But the duty-free operators see a higher demand in Nicaraguan cigars. And after research, they see Plasencia as one of the best ambassadors for Nicaraguan cigars. So the sampler, called Progressive Sampler, will see hit the duty-free markets in the next few months.

The progressive sampler

For this duty-free sampler, Plasencia decided to give the consumer the chance to try all of the current five Plasencia blends. And the sampler is designed in a way where the cigars go from mild to strong. And vitola wise from the simplest to the most complex. The sampler starts with the Plasencia Reserva Original and ends with the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Salomones. The last one is semi-box pressed and one of the most complexed sizes in the world.

There are other Nicaraguan cigars available at some duty-free points of sale, but not on this scale. This is the first time that a Nicaraguan cigar company gets such an opportunity in the duty-free market. With the two largest duty-free operators behind this sampler, it should be available at hundreds of different locations. And it might open the doors to a bigger variety of cigars on any international airport, cruise terminal or other duty-free points of sale.
