Reinado is Coming Back

October 24, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

In the early 2010s, The cigar brand was hot but around 2014 the brand completely disappeared. Nobody knew why, but The brand simply vanished into thin air. In July of 2019,company owner Antionio Lam did leave a message on the BOTL forums that the brand would return. But it took almost another two years for Reinado to actually get back. But the time is now, and the company made an announcement that the Reinado Grand Apex is coming to American retailers in May.

The new Reinado Grand Apex is a 5½x52 Robusto hailing from Nicaragua. For the production, Reinado went to Aganorsa Leaf and its Tabacos Valle de Jalapa (TABSA) factory. The inaugural batch of the new Reinado Grand Apex is limited to 3500 boxes. Each box contains 20 cigars. But it is not a limited edition cigar, more cigars will appear if the demand is there.

Inspiration

The inspiration for the cigar is Antiono Lam’s father. He came to the United States from Cuba as a lawyer, but none of the degrees or diplomas were recognized by the United States. So, Lam Sr took a position at Chase Manhattan Bank. He managed to work himself up to Vice President. That climb to success is what inspires Antonio Lam and inspires this cigar.

Lam Sr. is also the reason why Reinado vanished in the first place. Just when the brand got traction, Antonio put everything on hold to do something more important. Taking care of his family, his father to be precise. He was diagnosed with dementia.

A part of the proceeds of Reinado’s Grand Apex is going to the Dementia Society of America to help find a cure for the disease.
