Royal Danish Long Ash competition

May 10, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Royal Danish Long Ash competition. If you have a cigar club and want to partake in a long ash competition, contact the king of ashes. That is the nickname for Jan Vistisen from Royal Danish cigars. And he has the competition rules all set out for you.

For this competition, Royal Danish Cigars created a special blend and size. And it’s an enormous cigar. 12 inch long with a ring gauge of 60. In the metric system, that is 31½ centimeter. On the rules sheet, contestants are warned to smoke on a full stomach so we can only suspect that it’s a full-bodied blend.

The rules are simple. Every contestant will get a cigar and 100 minutes to smoke it. The cigar has to be lit within the first two minutes of the competition. Once the ash drops, you’re out. And if the ash doesn’t drop until the 100 minutes are over, the remainder of the cigar is measured. That’s being deducted from the length of the cigar to calculate the size of the ash cone. And the longest ash will win.
