Saint Luis Rey Adamastor: A Rare Cuban Regional Exclusive for Portugal

May 15, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Cuban cigar lovers in Portugal have a new regional gem to discover: the Saint Luis Rey Adamastor, a long, slender vitola inspired by the Trinidad Fundadores and steeped in Portuguese maritime lore.

Cuban cigar enthusiasts with a taste for rare sizes will be intrigued by the Saint Luis Rey Adamastor, the latest Regional Edition release exclusively for Portugal. Rolled in the elegant Laguito Especial format—measuring 7 ½ x 40—this vitola is rarely used outside of the Trinidad Fundadores, making this release something truly special. It even features the iconic pigtail cap, a subtle nod to Cuban cigar tradition.

Named after a mythical figure from Portuguese literature, Adamastor draws inspiration from Os Lusíadas, the 16th-century epic by Luís de Camões. In the poem, Adamastor symbolises the tempests and perils of sea exploration—an allegory Empor S.A. (Portugal’s official Habanos distributor) says reflects the blend’s “intensity and spirit of perseverance.”

This exclusive release comes in boxes of 10 cigars, priced at €25 per stick, or €250 per box (roughly $27.80 USD per cigar). Production is highly limited to just 10,000 boxes, making it a must-have for collectors and Regional Edition hunters.

The Saint Luis Rey Adamastor offers more than just an uncommon size—it’s a celebration of Cuba’s cigar craftsmanship and Portugal’s seafaring legacy, wrapped in one refined smoking experience. Whether you’re drawn by its poetic backstory or its elegant presentation, this cigar is set to become one of the more memorable Regional Editions in recent years.

If you’re travelling through Portugal or have access to international retailers, keep an eye out for this standout release—before it sails away for good.
