July 14, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Saint Luis Rey launches a premium cigar made in the Dominican Republic, for the first time in its history, . Launching in August 2025, the new line is called Saint Luis Rey Tabacales.

A Dominican Debut for Saint Luis Rey: Introducing Tabacales

A new chapter begins for Saint Luis Rey as the brand unveils Tabacales, its first Dominican-made premium cigar. Traditionally produced in Honduras and known for bold blends at competitive prices, Saint Luis Rey is now shifting gears. While affordability remains, this release offers a more refined, medium-bodied profile and a brand-new production home.

The cigar has been developed under the guidance of Rafael Nodal, vice president of product capability for Tabacalera USA, with support from the Grupo de Maestros, the elite team of master blenders at Tabacalera de Garcia. This prestigious Dominican factory is also home to iconic brands like Montecristo, H. Upmann, and Romeo y Julieta.

Saint Luis Rey Tabacales boasts a three-country blend:

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan

  • Binder: Cameroon

  • Filler: Dominican (from Navarette) and Nicaraguan tobaccos

According to Nodal, the result is “a perfect fusion of old-world sweetness and new-world spice.” The use of a Nicaraguan wrapper adds a contemporary touch to the blend, balancing richness with subtle complexity.

The line will debut in three vitolas, each priced below $10 USD:

  • Rothchilde: 5 x 54 – $7.70

  • Toro: 6 x 54 – $8.25

  • Titan: 6 x 60 – $8.95

All formats are available in boxes of 25 and 50 cigars, making them attractive options for both individual enthusiasts and retailers.

Saint Luis Rey Tabacales is scheduled to arrive at retailers during the first week of August 2025. With this release, the brand opens a new chapter—blending the heritage of its name with the craftsmanship of the Dominican Republic.

Keep an eye on your local tobacconist for this promising new addition to the Saint Luis Rey legacy.
