Sancho Panza Rocinante: A Russian-Exclusive Regional Edition

June 23, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

New Lonsdale vitola joins Habanos’ regional releases, available only in Russia

Habanos S.A. has quietly released the Sancho Panza Rocinante, a Regional Edition cigar created exclusively for the Russian market, now available in tobacconists across the country.

Distributed by Top Cigars, the official Habanos distributor for Russia, the Sancho Panza Rocinante is the latest addition to the popular Edición Regional programme. The cigar is a classic lonsdale format (170mm x 40 ring gauge), known as dalias in Cuban cigar factories—the same vitola used in cigars like the Partagás 8-9-8 and Cohiba Siglo V. It is presented in elegant varnished boxes of 10 and retails for 3,000 rubles per stick (approximately €33).

The name “Rocinante” is a fitting nod to Sancho Panza’s literary roots. Rocinante was the loyal steed of Don Quixote, making it a playful tribute within a brand already inspired by Cervantes’ iconic novel.

About the Habanos Regional Editions

The Edición Regional programme was established by Habanos S.A. in 2005 as a way to offer limited-edition cigars produced exclusively for specific countries or territories. These cigars are usually created in less globally prominent marcas like Sancho Panza, Ramón Allones, or Juan López, and are made in vitolas not found in the standard brand portfolio.

Each Regional Edition is commissioned by the local distributor—Top Cigars in this case—and produced in limited quantities, often with unique branding elements and ornate packaging. Collectors and seasoned aficionados often seek them out for their rarity, country-specific flavour profiles, and ageing potential.

With the Sancho Panza brand seeing renewed attention in recent years, the Rocinante may prove to be a hidden gem for collectors—and a significant milestone for Cuban cigars in Russia.
