Summertime Smoke opens with sold out London event
On Saturday 2 August, the UK cigar scene saw the first edition of Summertime Smoke: A Festival of Cigars. The event took place under clear weather conditions and drew a sold out audience for a day focused on cigar craftsmanship, heritage, and community.
Organised by Paresh Patel, Director of Bright Leaf Distribution and Havana House, the festival featured more than 15 brands, industry figures, and a programme of masterclasses. Each class was limited to 30 attendees and provided detailed discussion on cigar making.
Guest speakers included Rocky Patel, founder of Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Jeremy Casdagli of Casdagli Cigars, George Frakes of 1573 Cigars representing Foundation Cigars, and Jose Manuel Blanco of La Galera.
In addition to the masterclasses, attendees met brand representatives, smoked together, and exchanged questions and experiences.
Exhibitors included Rocky Patel, La Galera, Casdagli, 1573 Cigars, Freud Cigar Co., Davidoff UK, Kristoff, Chateau Diadème, Hiram & Solomon, Silencio, Global Leaf Co., Gurkha, CAO, PDR, VSB London, ST Dupont, Nikka Whisky, and Takamaka Rum.
The event also featured rolling demonstrations, festival exclusive products, food and drink pairings, and an outdoor layout designed for open interaction.
Anthony John Rossouw, UK Sales and Marketing Manager at Bright Leaf Distribution, acted as Master of Ceremonies, introducing sessions and exhibitors throughout the day.
Staff from Bright Leaf Distribution and Havana House handled all operational aspects. Konrad, Alisa, and Laura from Havana House ran the on site cigar shop. Justin and Asha oversaw logistics including stand setup, power supply, signage, and seating. Josh created the event branding and marketing materials, while Ross managed guest entry and masterclass scheduling. Alan and Phil from Bright Leaf assisted visiting guests during their time in the UK.
Patel said the aim was to connect people with the stories and skills behind the products. Rossouw described the event as a meeting point for different parts of the cigar community.
Plans are underway for a larger 2026 edition.
