Switzerland Welcomes Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018
Switzerland now offers aficionados a taste of luxury with the introduction of the Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018, a refined iteration of the beloved Montecristo Edmundo.
La Casa del Habano stores in Switzerland unveiled this special release on April 3. Crafted as part of the prestigious Reserva and Gran Reserva Series, this cigar showcases meticulous aging and limited production. The Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018 boasts dimensions of 5 3/10 inches (135mm) by 52 ring gauge, presenting a robusto extra size.
Priced at 180 CHF ($199) per cigar or 3,600 CHF ($3,976) per box of 20 cigars, this offering promises an indulgent experience for enthusiasts. Intertabak AG, the Swiss distributor of Cuban cigars, announces that Habanos Specialist stores across the country will commence sales on April 9.
Each year, Habanos S.A. designates a standout regular production cigar from its flagship brands to receive the prestigious Gran Reserva or Reserva distinction. While new Gran Reservas are typically unveiled in odd-numbered years and Reservas in even-numbered years, recent trends have seen delays in shipment. Technically, this release marks the 2022 Reserva from the Cuban cigar monopoly.
True to its name, the Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018 sources its tobacco exclusively from the 2018 harvest. For Reserva releases, the tobacco undergoes a minimum three-year aging process before rolling, followed by additional years of aging for the cigars themselves, far surpassing the norm for Montecristo Edmundo cigars.
Limited to 5,000 boxes of 20 cigars each, this release stands out with silver and black secondary bands adorning its high-gloss black boxes. For connoisseurs seeking an even more opulent experience, the Gran Reserva series offers cigars aged for a minimum of five years prior to rolling, presented in boxes of 15 with gold and black secondary bands.
An intriguing shift awaits with the upcoming Reserva release, as Habanos S.A. announced the Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills Reserva Cosecha 2019 earlier this year, marking a departure from the tradition of sourcing tobacco from even-numbered crops.
