Tatuaje La Riqueza returns
Tatuaje La Riqueza returns with a new vitola. Four years ago, the brand was nowhere to be found on the order lists of Tatuaje Cigars. The brand itself was never officially discontinued. Pete Johnson was moving La Riqueza from regular production to small batch and special event cigars. Just as he did with Ambos Mundo, El Triunfador and La Casita Criollo. Tatuaje private reserve aka Black Label is such a line too.
And now a picture of a new La Riqueza was seen on the social media channels of Tatuaje founder and owner Pete Johnson. He was showing a bundle with a 5⅝x54 Robusto with a closed foot. That is all the information there us, but apparently, Johnson said to our friends at Halfwheel that “this is just a warm-up for La Riqueza to come back into production.”
La Riqueza history
The first La Riqueza by Tatuaje came to the market in 2008. Since then several vitolas appeared and disappeared. In total there are 13 sizes made, with the new robusto being number 14. Some of them are round, others are box-pressed. All of the cigars use the same blend though. That’s a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over Nicaraguan filler and binder.
As always, Johnson works with his inlays, the Garcia family to produce the cigars. At the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. How many bundles will be available and when the cigars are going to be released is something that Johnson will reveal when the time is right.
