The Big Papi Firecracker Returns for Baseball Season with Limited-Edition Signed Boxes

April 5, 2023 Inspector L 2 min read

There was a time when the Firecrackers series from United Cigars were just released for Independence day, but those days seem to be over. Last year United Cigars worked with Artista Cigars to create a firecracker for opening day of the baseball season and this year All Saints released a special Saint Patrick’s Day Firecracker. This year, the Big Papi Firecracker returns for baseball season.

The 3½x50 short robusto is a variation of the Slugger, a cigar made by El Artista and David Ortiz, a hall-of-fame baseball star. The cigar uses a Mexican San Andres wrapper over a Dominican Negrito binder. The filler is made of Dominican Criollo, Nicaraguan tobacco and Pennsylvania Broadleaf. There are 1000 boxes of 20 available.

Each of the boxes contains a QR code that will lead customers to a thank you video by David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz. A number of boxes are signed by the legendary baseball star, but the number of signatures is limited to ten, divided over last year’s release and this year’s release.

“This was a special project that I wanted to be a part of,” said Ram Rodriguez of Artista Cigars, via a press release. “This Firecracker is a unique vitola and for a Big Papi Firecracker it had to be special. I wanted tobacco that was grown in the Dominican in the 60’s and Dominican negrito was that tobacco.”
