The Billionaire’s Cigar Lounge: Inside the Monte-Carlo Cigar Club

January 6, 2026 Usman Dawood 2 min read

A new private cigar lounge has opened in Monaco’s iconic Casino de Monte-Carlo and it’s one of the most exclusive in the world.

The Monte-Carlo Cigar Club launched just ahead of the Grand Prix, inside a 160-year-old building steeped in history. Formerly the office of SBM founder François Blanc, the 2,150-square-foot space has been completely redesigned by renowned architects Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille into something between a Havana sanctuary and a European private club.

Membership is strictly by referral or reserved for Platinum-tier Monte-Carlo loyalty members, which requires at least €100,000 in annual spend. There are around 50 founding members, and the waiting list has already begun.

The Humidor

The walk-in humidor, built by DeArt, holds around 4,000 cigars that are roughly 80% Cuban and 20% New World. The Cuban selection includes Behikes, Bolivar Belicoso Finos, recent Edición Limitadas and regional editions. But this isn’t just about unicorn cigars.

Among the New World offerings are lines from Arturo Fuente, Oliva, Plasencia, and Davidoff, including the Oro Blanco, one of the rarest cigars Davidoff has ever made. Each Oro Blanco is rolled by a single master roller using tobaccos aged over a decade, and its price tag reflects that.

“This isn’t just a cigar lounge—it’s a celebration of heritage and luxury,” says Dominique Gyselinck, co-founder of Dominique London. “The Monte-Carlo Cigar Club continues our commitment to creating extraordinary experiences for true cigar lovers.”

Built for Luxury

Inside, tall windows flood the space with natural light, bouncing off rich tobacco-toned walls, leather armchairs, and pastel compartments inspired by Havana. Private lockers including one reserved for Prince Albert II line the lounge, while an onyx bar serves rare spirits and wine from the Hôtel de Paris cellar.

Outside, a quiet terrace overlooks the sea, just above the Formula 1 track, offering one of the best views in Monaco.

Interview and Tour

We visited the Monte-Carlo Cigar Club to film a full walkthrough of the lounge and humidor and to speak with club director Jean Thomas about the vision behind it all.
