The Thousand Dollar Trinidad: 55th Anniversary Humidor Release

September 21, 2025 Inspector X 2 min read

Habanos has released the Trinidad 55th Anniversary humidor, one of the most expensive Cuban cigar packages ever. Each humidor includes 55 aged Trinidad Fundadores, with prices averaging over $1,000 per cigar.

A Celebration of Trinidad’s Legacy

The Trinidad Fundadores was the first commercial release from the brand, once reserved only for diplomats. To celebrate the 55th anniversary, Habanos created a humidor designed by luxury brand S.T. Dupont. Inside are 55 Fundadores, each aged for at least 10 years.

These cigars also debut the Habanos Vintage programme, which will highlight aged lines across several brands. Two extra bands, one at the head and another at the foot, identify the cigars as part of this new programme.

Price Breakdown

The suggested retail price stunned the cigar community. Hunters & Frankau, the U.K. distributor, set the cost at £47,115 ($64,000) per humidor, or about $1,160 per cigar.

The Charaf Tajer Edition

A second option, designed by French fashion designer Charaf Tajer, costs £128,920 ($175,000). The contents remain the same: 55 Fundadores aged a decade or more. The higher price comes from the flashy humidor itself, released in just 55 units.

Regional Pricing Differences

Prices vary depending on location:

  • United Kingdom: £47,115 ($64,000) standard / £128,920 ($175,000) Charaf

  • Germany: €55,000 ($64,446) standard / €110,000 ($128,819) Charaf

  • Switzerland: CHF 140,000 ($175,000) Charaf

  • Hong Kong: HK$488,840 ($62,852) standard / HK$868,230 ($111,633) Charaf

  • Mexico: $50,000 for the standard humidor

Collector Appeal

Retailers report strong interest, though the market is small. Some shops, like Ajay Patel’s La Casa del Habano in Teddington, consider selling cigars individually for around £900 to £1,000 each. Others, including Casas in Mexico, insist on selling the humidors as a whole.

Despite the price, collectors see these humidors as legacy pieces. Limited to 1,000 numbered units—945 standard and 55 Charaf Tajer editions—they will likely reappear at auctions for even higher sums.
