Viaje Releasing Two New Cigars In Collaboration With Tabacalera La Isla
Viaje is releasing two new cigars, both in collaboration with Tabacalera La Isla in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The first is the next instalment of the Viaje Craft Series, a series that draws inspiration from the craft beer scene. The cigar, New Beginnings is a 6×52 Toro with a Mexican San Andres wrapper over Dominican binder and fuller.
The second cigar is part of the White Label Project, the more experimental side of Viaje. Some of the cigars from the WLP series eventually make it to a regular production line and time will tell of that happens with the Mofongo. This 6×52 has an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper over a Dominican binder and filler from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. There are 300 boxes of 25 cigars available.
The Viaje WLP Mofongo gets its name from a popular dish throughout the Caribbean that uses mashed plantains as the base, with garlic, olive oil, chicarrón, and other ingredients added in and then generally served alongside a beef broth.
“Since first sitting at the drawing board, over a year has passed waiting for these new projects to arrive,” the company wrote in its social media posts announcing the cigars. “We experimented with incredible tobaccos, some of which we had never used before. We hope you will agree that patience has been rewarded.”
