Villiger Marks 25 Years of Bock y Ca. Revival with Limited-Edition Cigar Release
The origins of the Bock y Ca. cigar brand have long been a topic of debate. While some attribute its creation to Hermann Upmann, a German banker turned Cuban cigar manufacturer, others credit Gustav Bock, another German entrepreneur who ventured to Cuba in the mid-19th century. Bock’s legacy was cemented when he established El Águila de Oro (“The Golden Eagle”) in the late 1800s, expanding his influence by acquiring multiple Cuban cigar factories. By the early 20th century, Bock owned 23 factories. However, following his death in 1910, the brand and its factories gradually faded into obscurity.
In 1999, Villiger brought the Bock legacy back to life by launching the Bock y Ca. brand, produced as a premium cigar in the Dominican Republic by Matías Maragoto’s ABAM Cigars S.R.L. Now, 25 years later, Villiger is celebrating the revival with the release of a special limited-edition cigar: the Bock Renacimiento 25 Años.
This exclusive cigar is a 5 2/3 x 58 double robusto, featuring a pigtail cap, and is once again being produced by ABAM. While Villiger has kept the details of the blend under wraps, the Bock Renacimiento 25 Años promises to deliver the premium quality and craftsmanship that has become synonymous with the brand.
The limited-edition cigar is available exclusively in Villiger’s core markets of Germany and Switzerland. Priced at €25 in Germany and CHF 25 in Switzerland, the production run is limited to 250 boxes, each containing 25 cigars. These celebratory cigars have already begun shipping to stores, offering a rare opportunity for aficionados in these regions to experience the legacy of Bock y Ca.
This anniversary release highlights Villiger’s dedication to preserving cigar heritage while maintaining a standard of excellence that continues to resonate with cigar enthusiasts worldwide.
