Villiger North America’s 1888 Nicaragua Line Introduces Churchill and Gordo Sizes

May 3, 2024 Inspector X 2 min read

Villiger North America is broadening its 1888 Nicaragua line by introducing two larger sizes: a Churchill and a Gordo. These latest additions were unveiled for pre-order at this year’s PCA trade show in Las Vegas and commenced distribution to retailers recently.

Among the line, the Gordo stands out as the chunkiest, measuring 6 inches with a 60 ring gauge and priced at $10 per cigar. On the other hand, the Churchill boasts the title of the longest, spanning 7 inches with a 47 ring gauge, priced at $9.60. With these newcomers, the brand now offers five sizes, including the Coronita (5 3/4 by 43, $8), Robusto (5 by 50, $8.80), and Toro (6 by 50, $9.20).

Originally available internationally, Villiger 1888 Nicaragua made its debut in the U.S. market just last year at the PCA trade show. Crafted in Estelí, Nicaragua, within the confines of the Villiger de Nicaragua factory, this cigar showcases an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper enveloping a Nicaraguan binder and a blend of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania broadleaf fillers.

Each size of the Villiger 1888 Nicaragua line is packaged in blue boxes containing 20 cigars, maintaining a consistent presentation across the range.

This expansion reflects Villiger’s commitment to offering diverse options to aficionados, catering to varying preferences in size and flavour profile. By introducing these larger formats, Villiger provides enthusiasts with extended smoking experiences while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship that define the 1888 Nicaragua line. With the anticipation surrounding these new sizes, enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to indulge in the rich flavours and impeccable construction characteristic of Villiger cigars.
