Villiger Unveils Year of the Horse Cigar for Early 2026 Asian Release
Villiger Cigars has announced the upcoming release of the Villiger Year of the Horse, the fourth cigar in its series honouring the Chinese Zodiac calendar. Scheduled for January 2026, this special edition will be exclusive to the Asian market and will not ship to the United States not Europe.
The cigar is a 6 x 52 torpedo, crafted with an Ecuadorian habano oscuro wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder, and Nicaraguan fillers. Production takes place at Villiger de Nicaragua, a factory owned by Villiger and operated by the management team of Joya de Nicaragua. Each cigar will retail at $25, with 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars available.
Honouring the Chinese Zodiac Tradition
This is not Villiger’s first foray into zodiac-inspired creations. The company previously released Year of the Rabbit (2023), Year of the Dragon (2024), and Year of the Snake (2025)—all region-specific editions that showcased refined blends and premium craftsmanship.
The Chinese Zodiac calendar follows a 12-year cycle, with each year represented by a symbolic animal. These animals are believed to shape personality traits and destinies for those born under their sign. The Year of the Horse, which begins on 17 February 2026, represents freedom, energy, and ambition—qualities often associated with leadership and adventure.
Across Asia, many luxury brands mark the Lunar New Year with exclusive releases, and cigar companies have followed suit in recent years. Villiger’s Year of the Horse fits seamlessly into this growing trend, combining traditional symbolism with artisanal cigar-making.
Exclusive to the Asian Market
Villiger confirmed that the Year of the Horse will be available only through select Asian retailers, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to the region’s growing appreciation for fine cigars. The limited production and premium price point underline Villiger’s intention to create a collector’s item that celebrates both cultural tradition and tobacco artistry.
