Weekly news week 17

April 29, 2022 Inspector Z 2 min read

Weekly news week 17 2020. There is a world of cheap, poor quality, accessories available on Chinese websites such as Wish and Aliexpress. And there are drop shippers, people that mark up those accessories through their website. They lure in unsuspecting buyers, and once orders get in, they will order at those Chinese e-commerce shops. These scammers roam Facebook groups. Don’t fall for that, order directly, and save some cash. Or better: pick the right accessories. Don’t ruin your valuable cigars with cheap accessories. And watch the thirteenth episode of Soil to Soul

Reviews

As usual, two reviews were published. One vintage Cuban cigar, the H. Upmann Noellas from the glass jar. These were released in 2009 as an exclusive for La Casa del Habano. The second cigar of the week is the Balmoral Añejo XO Gordo. This used to be an event exclusive cigar but to offer retailers in The Netherlands something new during the covid-19 pandemic, Royal Agio released them as well.

VegaFina, Rocky Patel, EPC, and STG

The Dominican brand VegaFina pays tribute to the Dominican tobacco heritage with its latest limited edition release. The VegaFina Fortaleza 2 Andullo tobacco leaves achieve an optimal fermentation by being wrapped in dry “yagua” leaves forming a roll (the “andullo”) which is tied with ropes. And the cigar is named after this technique. The cigars are available in Spain, Germany, and other select markets. The brand new Rocky Patel CSWC will soon be available in Malaysia. The official cigar for the Cigar Smoking World Championship will be shipped to the Southeast Asian country as soon as possible. Scandinavian Tobacco Group is closing locations of the recently acquired Royal Agio. And a sampler from Ernesto Perez Carrillo is released. Five Dominican cigars in a freshpack landed in Switzerland.

New websites

Friends of Habanos and J.J. Fox finally launched the new auction website for Cuban cigars, bondroberts. The launch was supposed to happen mid-March, but circumstances caused the launch to be delayed by a month. The new website is replacing FOH Auctions. Famous graffiti artist Jessi Flores, who rose to fame during his 20 years tenure at Drew Estate launched his website. On Victms1975 you can buy apparel and more, all designed by Flores.
