Weekly news week 19 2021. The second Sunday of the month is always about a cigar charity on here. And technically, Toast across America isn’t a charity but it is a fundraiser for a charity. By releasing an annual pack of two rare cigars, J.C. Newman Cigar Company and Arturo Fuente raise funds. Funds for their Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, whom we have written about in the past.
Reviews
Sometimes there are cigars that you want to try badly but never seem to be able to get. Always sold out, or not available in the market where you are. The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Maestro is one of those cigars for us. But we finally got a box and you can read what our assessment is. New cigars
VegaFina is releasing two small ring gauge cigars in the VegaFina 1998 line. Both are limited edition cigars. And it’s not the only announcement of small ring cigars. Aladino Vintage Selection will soon be available in a Lancero size, but also in a Toro size. Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is working on a stronger version of the Sin Compromiso. Details are unknown but the name will be Paladin de Saka. Macanudo is releasing its annual seasonal Gold Label, this time including a new 6×60 Gigante.
Casdagli introduces the Casdagli Specialist Award for select shops that truly support the brand. Other Casdagli news is a new cigar. The Villa Casdagli cigars are a tweak on the Daughters of the Wind Robusto in four different sizes. These cigars come from Costa Rica and it’s a good week for Costa Rica. Vegas de Santiago and Skull 77 are now available in the Benelux. Just as another Costa Rican brand, Brun del Re. Ernesto Perez Carrillo releases a sampler with three of his best. Two #1 and a #2 cigar according to Cigar Aficionado. A.J. Fernandez is starting to offer three of his latest New World cigars to the international market as well.
Festivals and other news
Even though the covid-19 pandemic is still continuing, with a dangerous Indian strain now, the world slowly gets back to normal. This week was the week of the Tabaco Plus Expo, the first tobacco trade show in over a year. This summer the Boutique Cigar Association is hosting a festival. And there is a second edition of the International Cigar Expo in China, coming this November. The Lebanese cigar importer Cigar Boutique is expanding into several other countries in the region. Their website now offers a 360 experience. And last, but not least, this coming Thursday we are part of a panel discussing the state of Cuban and New World cigars during the Light ‘em Up Lounge.
