Weekly news week 29 2021. Most of the famous Cuban brands have counterparts from the New World. These counterparts are only for sale in the United States, where the Cuban brands are not for sale. Often these new world versions are considered ‘knock-offs’ but is that correct? In most cases, the new world versions are just the reincarnation of the brand after the original owners fled Cuba when their intellectual property was stolen by the communist regime.

Reviews 

Last week we published a review of a pretty young Fonseca Delicias. And Monday, we published a review of a slightly older Fonseca Delicias. This is to test if it was true what a Cuban aficionado told us, namely that the Fonseca Delicias gains strength with age. Slow week

The weeks after a trade show are always slow weeks, and this is the case this week. All the news came prior to the PCA Convention & Trade Show. The most exciting thing might have been a picture of cigar brand owners at the PCA that made its way on social media with a caption that shuffled some feathers. But in a gentlemanly manner, things were resolved quickly as well so we didn’t mention any of it on here.

CAO is releasing a new, limited edition, CAO Flathead. Alex Spencer’s The Mansa is coming to the United Kingdom. Cigar Dojo is teaming up with Espinosa Cigars for a second edition of the Psychedelic Turtle. The saddest news came from the Dutch Antilles. Maurice Abraham Abady, one of the driving forces behind the success of Habanos in the Caribbean, lost his battle with illness. And there is a new auction of vintage Cuban cigars by Dominique of London. This was the weekly news for week 29 2021.
